Wave Plate

A wave plate is a core optical device based on the birefringence effect of crystals, enabling precise control of polarized light phase. When linearly polarized light enters vertically, it splits into ordinary light (o-light) and extraordinary light (e-light). After passing through the wave plate, a fixed phase difference is generated between the two, realizing the conversion between polarization states (e.g., linear to circular polarization) or the rotation of linear polarization direction. It is widely used in laser processing, quantum communication, biological imaging, etc., with core models including λ/4 (quarter-wave) and λ/2 (half-wave) plates.
